Situated in the heart of the Puyallup
River Valley, Sumner continues to build from its farming heritage.
Downtown Sumner features the community’s history, not only in its sale
of local products from the valley but the retention of City Hall, Ryan
House Museum, and other historic buildings.
Newer structures such as the gazebo at
Heritage Park and the Sounder Station were designed to replicate the
hops kilns roof lines that dotted the fields long ago.
The Sumner Downtown Association’s
Mission Statement: Promote the preservation and revitalization of our
downtown as the heart of the Sumner Community, is being carried on
everyday in Downtown.
From historic photos, posters and
news-clippings on our office walls, to our resource library full of
helpful information on Downtown’s history and buildings, City codes,
marketing, and rhubarb pie, our staff is available to assist you.
SDA Office hours are 2:00pm to 5:00pm,
weekdays at 906 Kincaid Avenue or by appointment 253-720-9846.
