Who Stole the Rhubarb Pie?
Don’t miss
this hilarious Home Town fun as the Sumner Downtown Association hosts a
Mystery Wine Walk featuring Sumner’s unique history and its former name,
Stuck Junction. Inspired by the many references Sumner receives as
a Mayberry-type community, a theatrical cast staring Aunt See Baylor,
Deputy Arnie Piccolo and Lotis the town drunk, will entice visitors with
over twenty verbal and hand written clues about “who stole the Rhubarb
Pie?
Visitors
will learn that Aunt See has gone all out to bake a special Rhubarb Pie
this year to break the 9 year tie she has with Clara Ryan in the pie
baking contest at the local fair. Aunt See put her latest creation in the
window to cool but when she came back at 10:00 am, the pie was gone. And
Deputy Piccolo, who has dubbed himself as Aunt See’s cooking mentor, just
realized that after leaving her kitchen that morning, the single bullet he
always carries in his shirt pocket for emergencies is missing and he
remembers leaning over the pie crust to help add ingredients. He’s pretty
sure what happened to it. What if one of the judges bites down on the
bullet or if he needs to use his gun for an emergency?
And Lotis,
the town drunk, can’t seem to get over the fact that See Baylor doesn’t
return his affections. It’s a 40 year infatuation that has driven him to
drink and he can’t seem to stop walking by her house just to catch a
glimpse of her.
The walk
includes 18 wine tasting sites where cast members will stamp your rhubarb
pie passport and give out mystery clues. There will be a free prize
drawing for completed passports, and one lucky sleuth who can name the pie
stealing culprit will take home Aunt See’s Tasty Rhubarb Pie. Dinner and
entertainment will begin at 6:30 in the Main Street dining area. Sumner’s
Mayor and community members will be part of the Main Street entertainment,
just before the dramatic Stuck Junction municipal courtroom scene where
the pie thief will be forced to confess. A local jazz ensemble will
provide the after-walk entertainment until 10:00 pm. |
